Walsall People Ltd wins Prestige Award
Walsall People has won a prestigious award at the Walsall Disability Awards 2009 held at Walsall town Hall on 1st April. Nominated in the category for services to Older People, Walsall People was given the award by judges against strong competition from Kingsley Fellowship Group and Apna Ghar sheltered housing project. The Award was sponsored by Whg, which manages the majority of social housing in the Borough. Walsall People was set up in 2006 as a not for profit social enterprise to offer reasonably priced skilled work to people not able to do their own minor house repairs, decorating and gardening. It has now grown to include a domestic cleaning service, and a mobile hairdresser.
Walsall Disability Awards were founded in 2007 by Walsall Disability Forum, an umbrella organisation for more than 50 groups, associations and professional organisations working with and for disabled people.
